Godfrey. I found the books at a local thrift store then drilled a hole in each so I could string them from a rope. They were hung from a crossbar held up by two light stands, all just out of the camera frame. The girl simply had to stand there and place her hands on the books. simple, but effective. thanks for your comments.

The photographs of the girl carrying the books are admirable piece of works (as with all your other photographs)! How did she hold up so many textbooks without ripping her shoulder out? There was some sort of trick wasn't there?

Correction Ray. I was looking at the wrong entry. That shot was taken on Germantown Rd which is west of downtown about 5-10 miles off of highway 30.

Ray, this photo was taken on the old scenic highway by Multnomah Falls about 15-20 miles east of Portland Off Interstate 84. Take the Bridal Veil exit and head west up to Crown Point, or head east towards the falls.

Hi Brian, Thanks for sharing this. I like the simple set-up. Portraits like these are something I haven't done. It looks quick and simple.
